You're an aspiring young TV and internet show producer who is risking it all (financially) to create your own reality show without help from a studio or production company. Will you gain fame and riches or end up penniless and mocked professionally? To successfully complete this challenge you must record, edit, and upload interviews with contestants, daily dramatic footage, and a weekly elimination ceremony on schedule.
If you fail this challenge, move your sim into an empty lot and give them zero simoleons.
This is a complex challenge that requires significant set up for ease of play.
Visualize: First determine what kind of reality show you will create. Who are the players? What are they playing to win? How will your players win and/or be eliminated? If there are to be challenges what kind? When, where and how will the elimination ceremony be? Next write out your plan for one Sim year (I chose 8-week long year with two weeks per season and created a Bachelor-style show where the characters compete for love, go on group and 1:1 dates, engage in skill based competitions for head of household, photos of contestants removed from the wall, and receive flowers at a formal party elimination ceremony .
Build your lots: Use free real estate cheat to move into and set up your location. Will it be an island like survivor? A mansion like the Bachelorette, a Home Decorator show, or something totally unique? Set up or download any other essential lots such as bars, clubs, restaurants for dates, a challenge-specific lot, or a lot where elimination ceremony will occur.
Create Your Sims: Download or create your cast of 6-7 contestants and your main character. Select Traits and Aspirations according to your story line. Last move the characters into the lot and begin by recording interviews with each of the contestants at a welcome party.
The idea is to play mostly just the producer sim and auto solve needs for the contestants when possible. The story/challenge is about the producer of the show getting famous, the contestants are secondary characters.
Week 1 A Brutal Schedule: This week should include your sim using the VRS (video recording station) to record a promo video/vlog that will be used to advertise your upcoming Reality Series. This is your first upload! The next 7 uploads should be vlogs by or recorded interviews with the participants. These will be edited by the producer and are your next 7 uploads. All 8 videos must be uploaded before you can begin uploading any footage captured in week two.
Week 2 The kick-off: Decide for yourself what footage should be captured to create your show. Record between 3-5 videos each week. Don't worry too much if your contestants don't do exactly what you want. You will edit the footage the get what you need.
I chose to record the following each week: elimination ceremony on Sunday, Group date on Friday, 1:1 date on Saturday, head of household challenge on Thursday. Contestants spent Mon., Tue., and Wed. skill building related to the upcoming challenge "off camera".
Week 3-6: Getting in the Groove Continue with your set Record, Edit, and Upload schedule of 3-5 videos per week.
Week 7 or 8: New Year- New Show Create a Finale Episode and stream it live. This is where winners are announced The finale should be a big formal party, bringing back contestants as guests and hosted by the producer. Earn Bronze or better to be a success. All videos must be uploaded before the live finale.
Congratulations! You have achieved some fame and made a name for yourself. Will your show be picked up for a second run?
However, if any of the following happen, your show will flop, you will be broke, and a laughing stock in the industry.
1.) Any household member dies.
2.) You do not upload all of the videos before the finale.
3.) You upload videos out of order.
4.) You miss a recording of an event on your schedule.
5.) You lose recorded footage/drone.
6.) You Fail to successfully host and live stream the Formal Finale Party. Bronze is acceptable. You are a producer afterall, and can "fix it" to look like a huge success with creative editing.
This challenge idea is based on a TV show entitled "UnReal". It's about what happens behind the scenes of a reality TV show.
